Commemorative Event in Moadamiyat al-Sham Marks the Anniversary of the Ghouta Chemical Massacre, with Participation from Al-Ameen Al-Insaniya

The city of Moadamiyat al-Sham hosted an official commemorative event attended by a large gathering of local residents, marking the anniversary of one of the most horrific crimes committed during Syria’s years of revolution: the chemical massacre carried out by the former regime against unarmed civilians in the two Ghoutas. The event was held with the participation of Al-Ameen Al-Insaniya, alongside a number of sponsoring ministries and community organizations, reflecting the shared commitment of local communities and humanitarian institutions to ensuring this crime is never forgotten with the passage of time.
This occasion was more than a symbolic remembrance. It served as a clear message that what happened in the two Ghoutas will not be erased from memory, and that the blood of the victims who lost their lives to chemical weapons deserves to remain present in the collective consciousness. This internationally banned weapon was used against defenseless civilians in what has been described as the massacre of the century, given the scale of the casualties and the horrific nature of the method used.
Al-Ameen Al-Insaniya’s participation in this event reflects its ongoing role in supporting victims and survivors, as well as its continued efforts to document the violations committed against civilians throughout the years of conflict. Standing alongside sponsoring ministries and community initiatives on this occasion reflects a firm belief that justice does not expire with time, and that holding those responsible for these crimes accountable remains a legitimate demand that cannot be abandoned.
The event held in Moadamiyat al-Sham was not merely symbolic. It carried within it a clear call to prevent the recurrence of such crimes, and to keep the cause of the victims present on both the local and international agenda. The memory of nations stands as the first line of defense against repeating past tragedies, and honoring the victims begins with refusing to remain silent about their right to justice.
May God have mercy on the martyrs of Ghouta. Their pure blood, shed unjustly, will never be forgotten.
