World Physical Therapy Day: Steps Toward Hope with Al-Ameen

Every year on September 8th, the world marks World Physical Therapy Day, an occasion that highlights the vital role this medical specialty plays in helping people regain their mobility and their ability to live with dignity and independence after injuries, surgeries, or chronic disabilities. In conflict zones and humanitarian crises, the importance of this field grows even further, as it becomes the first line of support for thousands of people who have lost part of their ability to move due to war and destruction.
Physical therapy is a set of specialized treatment programs that rely on exercises and modern techniques to strengthen muscles, improve balance, relieve pain, and help patients gradually and safely regain their physical function. Its role goes beyond the physical aspect alone, extending to rebuilding patients’ self-confidence and giving them a real chance to return to normal life.
The Role of Al-Ameen Humanitarian in This Field
For years, the International Association “Al-Ameen” has been providing physical therapy and rehabilitation services to thousands of beneficiaries across multiple regions, most notably northern Syria and Yemen, through a network of specialized centers run by a team of physical therapists and specialists.
In the town of Sarmada in the Idlib countryside, Al-Ameen’s Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center offers individualized treatment programs tailored to each case, aimed at strengthening muscles, improving balance, and relieving pain, enabling beneficiaries to regain their mobility after chronic injuries or surgical operations.
The Ariha Health Center also houses a specialized pediatric physical therapy clinic, where the medical team accompanies children step by step on their journey to recovery, driven by the belief that every child deserves a chance at a normal life despite the circumstances of war. Recent field visits to this center have included an inspection tour by the Director of Idlib Health, who emphasized the importance of continued support to ensure comprehensive healthcare services.
In Yemen, Al-Ameen, with support from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, continues to implement physical therapy and mobility rehabilitation programs at the Prosthetics Center in Sayun, helping the injured and people with disabilities regain their capabilities and independence.
These ongoing efforts reflect Al-Ameen Humanitarian’s commitment to a comprehensive humanitarian approach — one that goes beyond providing medical treatment to restoring hope and dignity to every patient who walks through the doors of its centers. Every step a beneficiary takes toward recovery stands as living proof that care and determination can make a real difference, even under the most difficult circumstances.
On this World Physical Therapy Day, Al-Ameen reaffirms its continued commitment to supporting this vital sector and expanding its services to reach more beneficiaries who need a helping hand to rise again.
