Children’s Anemia
The most vulnerable age groups infected with anemia are the children due to their increased need for iron and because they do not eat foods that provide them with the appropriate amount of iron.
Children’s Anemia is a disorder caused by a low hemoglobin level in the blood, and the level varies according to the child’s age group; the older, the more they need.
Babies are born with iron stored in their bodies for four months, and then After this, a constant amount of additional iron is needed, which can be through baby feeding and supplementation.
In our health center in Al-Bab, which Al Ameen supports for Humanitarian Support, the child Ahmed Khaled who is 12 years old, visited us with a complaint of headache, severe pallor, Heart palpitations, dehydration, and lip cracks
During the clinical examination by the specialized doctor, the following measures were taken;
• Heart scan, and the result was normal.
• Blood Tests were requested, as it was found that the child had iron deficiency anemia
HB: 7.1 g/dl
FE: 11 ug/dl
The doctor prescribed the appropriate treatment for him and provided his parents with the correct health advice and guidance on nutrition. They were also asked to review the clinic after two weeks to follow up on his health condition and improvement.
Two weeks later, they went to the clinic for a follow-up, the child was feeling much better, and the symptoms of pallor began to recede.
The child’s parents were asked to follow the treatment and adhere to the appropriate nutritional guidelines amidst the satisfaction and reassurance of the parents that their child’s condition has improved and passed the critical stage.
