What are the four types of kidney stones?
1-Calcium Stones: The most common kidney stone is created when calcium combines with oxalate in the urine. Inadequate calcium and fluid intake, as well as other conditions, may contribute to their formation.
Usually, the extra calcium your bones and muscles don’t use goes into your kidneys and is eliminated in your urine.
Calcium remains in the kidneys and joins with the urine to form kidney stones when this does not happen.
2-Uric acid Stones: Uric acid stones may be formed when urine contains many acids. Eating a lot of fish, oysters, and meat, especially organ meat such as liver and spleen, may increase uric acid in urine. The formation of these types of stones tends to run in families.
3- Struvite Stones: Struvite stones are more common in women, infants, and the elderly and are often associated with recurrent bacterial urinary tract infections.
4- Cystine Stones: Cystine stones are the least common stones caused by a hereditary genetic disorder called cystinuria that can lead to excessive amounts of the amino acid cystine collecting in the urine.
Renal colic causes more pain in patients than childbirth. But sooner or later, about 10% of the population will end up experiencing this pain at least once in their lives.
Renal colic is a pain you get when urinary stones block part of your urinary tract. Your urinary tract includes your kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Ureters carry urine from your kidneys to your bladder. The urethra carries urine to the outside when you urinate. The most common cause of blockage in the urinary tract is a kidney stone.
The pain of Renal colic may start quickly, come and go, and become worse over time.
