A New Step Toward Supporting Education: Al-Susa School Opens in Al-Bukamal

In a new move aimed at supporting the educational process and empowering the next generation, the Al-Sousa School in the city of Al-Bukamal, Deir ez-Zor Governorate, was inaugurated. The project was launched under the auspices of the Syrian Ministry of Education and generously funded by The Big Heart Foundation.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Governor of Deir ez-Zor, Mr. Ziad Al-Ayesh, and the Director of Education, Mr. Ali Al-Saleh. Together, they opened the school as part of efforts to provide a suitable new educational environment for local students, following years of challenges that impacted educational infrastructure in Deir ez-Zor and many other parts of Syria.

The opening of the Al-Sousa School represents a significant addition that helps improve educational conditions and encourages students to continue their studies in a safe, well-equipped environment. It also reflects the growing commitment to rehabilitating the governorate’s education sector.

This initiative stems from a partnership between official bodies—represented by the Ministry of Education—and supporting organizations, most notably The Big Heart Foundation, which funded the project. This collaboration highlights the importance of joint efforts to rebuild the education sector and support children and youth in areas requiring greater attention and investment.

The Al-Sousa School is expected to accommodate local students, thereby easing the burden on nearby schools and providing educational opportunities closer to home. This will have a positive impact on the future of the new generation in Al-Bukamal and the surrounding areas.

Such projects—supported by the Governor of Deir ez-Zor and the Director of Education—underscore the importance of continued support for Syria’s education sector, recognizing it as a cornerstone for reconstruction and for building a better future for coming generations.
