For example, the patient (Fatima Al-Ali, 55 years old) attended the internal clinic in the center, complaining of productive cough with mild fever and pain in the left chest above the diaphragm.
The doctor (Saleh al-Khader) performed the clinical examination, where he discovered wheezing and coarse crackles during auscultation whithin the lateral inferior left lung.
Antibiotics, pain relievers, and antipyretics were prescribed with an oral expectorant. Two weeks later, the patient complained of coughing with light hemoptysis, yellow liquid secretions, and a moderate general condition.
A plain chest x-ray was requested, where the result was the presence of two circular densities at the expense of the lower lobe of the left lung directly above the diaphragm, with diameters of 7 cm1 and 5 cm. A thoracic CT scan without injection was then requested, where iit was found that they have liquid content with blocking, one of which formed a fistula towards the Left main bronchus.
The diagnosis was made as two hydrated polmunary cysts at the expense of the left chest, one of them is open towards the main bronchus. Here, the treatment was carried out with antiparasitic, antibiotics and pain relievers for a whole month, then a 15-day break off treatment.
At the beginning of the second treatment phase, the patient was reviewed with an increase in hemoptysis, where again, a thoracic CT chest was performed without injection; it was found that the open cyst began to drain into the left main bronchus with accompanying venal bleeding, after which the patient was transferred to the hospital (25 Aralık Public Hospital) in Gaziantep, as it has a thoracic surgeon there.
After three months of conservative treatment within the hospital, the patient’s chest was surgically opened, where the normal cyst and the open cyst were removed and scraping of the hematoma formed next to the open cyst.
Ten days later, the patient was discharged from the hospital and returned to her home in an excellent health condition.
