Strengthening Medical Preparedness in Idlib: Specialized Training on Mass Casualty Response Supported by WHO
In response to regional initiatives launched by the World Health Organization, Al-Ameen International Humanitarian Organization, with support from WHO, organized specialized training on mass casualty management in the Idlib Health Directorate. The training targeted medical personnel in hospitals, including doctors and nurses, in addition to field workers. It focused on enhancing their knowledge and skills in applying best clinical and administrative practices when dealing with crises.
The training included interactive sessions, workshops, scientific lectures, and simulation exercises to replicate mass casualty scenarios, providing participants with a practical opportunity to review emergency plans and improve their field performance. The training also covered the fundamental differences between urgent, emergency, and disaster situations, introduced participants to the basics of health care in these contexts, focused on clinical and non-clinical skills, and reviewed the importance of using clinical history and considering ethical and legal aspects in providing care during crises.
This training comes as part of the commitment of humanitarian organizations to support the health system and enhance its readiness, ensuring an effective response that saves lives in critical moments.
