Opening of Maarat al-Numan Primary Health Care Center in Idlib with Broad Participation of National and International Stakeholders
As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the health sector in Syria, Idlib Governorate witnessed today, June 15, 2025, the inauguration of the Maarat al-Numan Primary Health Care Center, in the presence of a broad array of official representatives and local community members.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Health of the Syrian Arab Republic, Dr. Musab Al-Ali; the esteemed Governor of Idlib Governorate, Mr. Mohammad Abdul Rahman; the Director of the Health Directorate in Idlib, Dr. Samer Arabi; the Director of the Maarat al-Numan District, Mr. Kifah Al-Jaafar; in addition to representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) from its offices in Damascus, Aleppo, and Gaziantep (Turkey), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), as well as a number of local dignitaries and residents of Maarat al-Numan.
In his speech, the Minister of Health emphasized that this inauguration marks a pivotal step in rebuilding the healthcare system in affected areas, and serves as a clear message that life is gradually returning to these regions. He added: “At the Ministry of Health, we are committed to continuing our efforts to ensure that every citizen receives their full right to quality healthcare, in a way that promotes social stability and encourages displaced populations to return to their homes.”
This project comes within the framework of constructive cooperation between the Syrian Ministry of Health and the International Association for the Care of War and Disaster Victims – Al-Ameen, under a shared vision aimed at strengthening the healthcare sector and enhancing the quality of medical services provided to local communities. In collaboration with the Ministry and international partners, the Association seeks to provide a comprehensive and sustainable health environment that ensures improved quality of life, encourages the return of populations to their areas, and contributes effectively to fostering social stability. The Association also reaffirms its ongoing commitment to expanding the scope of its health interventions in accordance with the highest medical standards, to ensure that health services reach all those in need.
