New Agreements Between the Ministry of Health and the International Association “Al-Ameen” to Strengthen Healthcare Sustainability and Develop Medical Centers in Syria

As part of efforts to support and enhance the healthcare sector in the Syrian Arab Republic, several projects were signed between the Ministry of Health and the International Association for the Care of War and Disaster Victims – Al-Ameen. These agreements aim to ensure the continuity of medical services and expand healthcare coverage across several Syrian governorates.

The agreements were signed on behalf of the Ministry of Health by Dr. Zuheir Qarrat, Director of Planning at the Ministry, and on behalf of the Association by Dr. Moawia Harssouni, Chairman of the Board. This collaboration reflects joint efforts to improve healthcare services and respond to the growing needs of the population in targeted areas.

The agreements include a project to operate and support 70 health centers and 10 dialysis centers in the governorates of Aleppo, Idlib, Hama, and Homs. The project’s scope covers primary healthcare services, specialized dialysis care, as well as physical therapy and rehabilitation services—contributing to better healthcare quality and improved access to essential and specialized services for citizens.

The agreements also include the establishment and equipping of an advanced health center and its facilities in Rural Damascus. The project covers the construction and equipping of the center, along with service extensions that include a mosque and commercial investment shops, the proceeds of which will support the center’s operational sustainability. Another similar project will be implemented in Rural Homs and will include the construction and equipping of an advanced health center, a mosque, commercial shops, and an investment water well to generate income supporting the center’s sustainability.

Both parties affirmed that these projects fall within an integrated vision aimed at strengthening the sustainability of healthcare services, developing medical infrastructure, and supporting medical personnel—ultimately improving service quality and health conditions in the targeted governorates.

These agreements mark an important milestone in the cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the International Association for the Care of War and Disaster Victims – Al-Ameen, enhancing the health system’s capacity to meet present and future healthcare needs and serve the well-being of the Syrian citizen.
