International Day of Persons with Disabilities: Promoting Inclusion and Building a Sustainable Future for All
On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we reaffirm that targeting medical facilities during conflicts is not only a crime that results in civilian casualties but also a catastrophe that places persons with disabilities at heightened risk. These individuals, who rely on continuous medical care, require special protection during times of war. Moreover, bombings often result in permanent disabilities, profoundly affecting the injured and their families—psychologically, socially, and economically.
We call on the international community and human rights organizations to take firm stances against these violations and to exert pressure for an immediate halt to the targeting of medical facilities. We also stress the urgent need for greater protection of healthcare facilities and workers and for ensuring the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid to affected areas.
At the International Association for the Care of Victims of Wars and Disasters (Al-Ameen), we emphasize the importance of empowering and integrating persons with disabilities into building an inclusive and sustainable future for all.
