Inauguration of the Audiology Planning Department at the Hearing and Speech Therapy Center in Wadi Hadramawt, Yemen

As part of efforts to enhance specialized health services and improve care and rehabilitation programs for people with hearing disabilities, the Hearing and Speech Therapy Center in Wadi Hadramawt inaugurated its new audiometry department and installed a state-of-the-art audiometry (ABR) device. The inauguration was held under the patronage of the Governor of Hadramawt, Mr. Salem Al-Khanbashi, and the Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Bahibah. The project was funded and implemented by the International Association for the Care of Victims of Wars and Disasters – Al-Amin, in coordination with the Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Deaf and Mute in Wadi Hadramawt. It was officially launched by the Deputy Governor of Hadramawt for Wadi and Desert Affairs, Mr. Amer Al-Amri, in the presence of several health sector officials. The ABR device is an advanced tool for diagnosing hearing loss, particularly in newborns and children. It contributes to early and accurate detection, identifying the type and degree of hearing loss, which helps in developing appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plans in a timely manner. Project officials emphasized that the launch of this specialized department represents a qualitative leap in the level of hearing and rehabilitation services in Wadi Hadramawt and enhances the center’s ability to provide accurate diagnostic services according to the highest standards. Medical standards, which alleviate the suffering of families and reduce the long-term complications of hearing impairment. This achievement comes as part of a series of interventions implemented by the International Association for the Care of Victims of Wars and Disasters – Al-Amin, in the field of supporting people with disabilities throughout the Republic of Yemen, where the association works to support specialized centers.
