Between Nairobi and Mogadishu, the paths of Mr. Osman Abukar Ali

Osman’s story intersect with unexpected challenges and remarkable resilience, Osman, a widowed father providing for five children, works diligently at Ayub Orphanage, His life takes a significant turn when he is unexpectedly diagnosed with kidney disease, impacting him negatively. Osman story takes an emotional turn with the initial episodes of kidney pain, as he continuously strives to overcome the disease on his own, from self-care to visits to the pharmacy, however, the illness intensifies, and its symptoms worsen for Osman, prompting him to move to Nairobi for treatment, where he undergoes kidney dialysis sessions and begins his experiences with an Indian doctor, offering a window into the physical and mental struggles faced in dealing with chronic kidney disease, especially as it coincides with symptoms of diabetes, but he is a resilient personality, refuses to surrender.
Osman decides to seek treatment in Mogadishu after being informed by some friends about the kidney dialysis center at Banadir Hospital, Mogadishu, Somalia, which is operated by International Association for Wars and Disasters Victims (IRVD) and supported by King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, as Osman’s condition improves alongside the completion of his treatment and the alleviation of pain, he regains the ability to stand and pray once again, marking a crucial turning point in his life.

Today, as Osman recalls his journey with healthcare systems in Nairobi and Mogadishu, expressing gratitude for the professional and cost-free care he received at the center in Mogadishu, focusing on the challenges of managing kidney disease alongside diabetes, Osman has returned to his daily routine, reclaiming the ability to carry out his daily tasks. His journey is not just a personal battle with illness but a story of hope, gratitude, and the enduring strength of human will, demonstrating that the power of human determination remains steadfast despite adversities.
