How Adham Regained His Life: A Story of Returning to School in Marib, Yemen
In 2024, the life of the child Adham changed radically after a tragic accident that cost him his leg. The physical injury was not the only burden he carried. He withdrew emotionally and was forced to leave his studies and move away from his dreams. Yet his story did not end at that moment. By God’s grace, and through comprehensive care, he regained hope and has now returned to the school desks in the city of Marib, Yemen.
From a Broken Dream to Standing Again
After the accident, Adham found himself facing a difficult new reality. Losing a leg changes every detail of daily life, from walking and playing to going to school. Over time, he felt isolated and drifted away from his school and his friends, and his life came to a halt, as those who accompanied him through his journey describe it.
But as time passed, Adham heard about the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center in the city of Marib, and that was the beginning of a new chapter in his life. There, a rehabilitation journey began that covered both the physical and the psychological sides, with the aim of restoring his ability to move and his confidence in himself.
A Physical and Psychological Rehabilitation Journey
The role of prosthetic centers is not limited to fitting an artificial limb, since real rehabilitation begins afterward. The beneficiary, especially a child, needs gradual training in using the prosthetic limb and walking with it, along with psychological support that helps them overcome the effects of loss and rebuild their confidence.
This is what Adham received at the center, where a specialized team supervised his case and accompanied him step by step until he regained his self-confidence and began walking again with his prosthetic limb. The photos documenting his journey capture his smile as he stands and walks, returning to the life that had stopped.
Victory Over Reality
By God’s grace, and through comprehensive care, Adham regained his confidence and began walking again. This transformation was not only physical. It was a victory over the reality that the injury had imposed on him, and a return to a normal life in which he can continue his education and pursue his dreams.
Today, Adham stands to continue his schooling, turning the page on despair and proving that willpower and support make the impossible possible.
Supporting and Supervising Bodies
This outcome comes as part of the services of the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center in the city of Marib, made possible by generous funding from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, under the supervision of the Curative Medicine Sector of the Ministry of Public Health and Population of Yemen.
Adham’s story highlights the importance of rehabilitation services in the lives of injured children. They do not only restore the ability to move, but also give back their right to education, hope, and a future. Through documenting stories like this, Alameen Organization affirms that comprehensive support can change individual destinies and open new doors.
