Ibrahim’s Story: How Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Restore Hope for Landmine Survivors in Yemen
A landmine explosion changed the course of Ibrahim Mohammed Mohsen’s life in a single moment. He was a man who supported his family through daily hard work, heading out each morning without imagining that an ordinary day could turn his life upside down. But the moment the landmine exploded was not just a passing accident — it marked the beginning of a long struggle, as Ibrahim lost his right leg and found himself far from his job and the daily routine he had known.
Two full years passed for Ibrahim between pain and the constant company of his crutches. The physical pain alone was not the hardest part; the weight of his family’s needs pressed on him even more than his own suffering. He genuinely searched for a chance that would help him stand again, a glimmer of hope that would restore his ability to work and move as he once had.
That chance came when Ibrahim arrived at the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center, where his journey did not end with his injury but transformed into an entirely new beginning. There, he underwent intensive rehabilitation and walking training, accompanied by a specialized medical team that supported him step by step until he regained the ability to stand and walk with growing confidence.
Today, Ibrahim moves forward with greater steadiness than before, regaining his independence and self-confidence. He believes that every step he takes on his new leg brings him closer to his family and to the life he loves and wishes to return to fully.
Ibrahim’s story is one of dozens supported by Al-Ameen Humanitarian Support Organization through its programs dedicated to rehabilitating landmine and war survivors, providing prosthetic limbs and the necessary training to help them regain their ability to live and work again.
