Haajera’s Story… A Somali Mother Who Faced the Impossible and Found a Helping Hand

Amid the rush of daily life and the weight of responsibilities, Haajera walked with steady steps despite everything her heart carried. A Somali mother who held in a single pair of hands the responsibility of raising her children and standing firm against the hardship of her circumstances. She did not know that her body was silently betraying her, and that the hardest battle she would ever face was not in securing a meal — it was growing inside her, out of sight.

The symptoms began to appear gradually; a fatigue that never left her, an exhaustion that weighed down her every step, and a body that weakened day by day without any clear explanation. When the diagnosis finally came, it was devastating in every sense of the word: Chronic Kidney Failure – Stage Five.

The final stage. The most dangerous. The stage where the kidneys have nothing left to give, and dialysis sessions become a forced lifeline for survival.

When Treatment Feels Like an Impossible Dream

Haajera knew that treatment was not a choice but a necessity — yet she also knew its cost was far beyond her means. A mother struggling to provide for her children cannot afford the luxury of repeated and expensive medical sessions. As time passed and burdens accumulated, her condition began to deteriorate, and hope began to narrow.

Every single day, she carried two burdens at once: the burden of the illness living inside her body, and the burden of the children waiting for her at home. No room to give up, and no means to seek treatment. A cruel equation that Haajera lived through in silence and with great patience.

Bandar Center… Where the Turning Point Began

When Haajera arrived at the Bandar Dialysis Center supported by Al-Ameen Humanitarian Support Organization, she did not expect to find what she found. Free treatment, genuine humanitarian care, and outstretched hands that did not ask about her financial situation before offering help.

She sat on the dialysis bed for the first time with a mixture of fear and hope in her eyes. And session after session, her body began to regain some of its strength, and her spirit began to regain some of its peace.

A Smile That Says What Words Cannot

Today, Haajera sits with her children, and on her lips is a smile that did not come easily. A smile that does not mean the absence of pain — it means the ability to keep going despite it. It means she is still here, among them, holding them close and continuing her journey.

What she received at Bandar Center was not merely medical treatment; it was a chance to continue a life, and a chance for her children to keep the one who cares for them and looks after them.

Haajera’s story is not the story of one woman alone. It is the voice of many who live in silence, carrying illnesses beyond their strength and burdens too heavy to bear. And at the same time, it is a living reminder that genuine humanitarian support can change the entire course of a life.

Al-Ameen Humanitarian Support Organization continues its mission of extending a helping hand to those like Haajera, out of a firm belief that every human being deserves the chance to live with dignity.
