Reception of a Delegation from the Lebanese Ministry of Health at Alameen primary healthcare Center in Arsal to Assess the Health Situation and Provide Recommendations for Improvement

The primary healthcare center in Arsal, Lebanon, managed by Alameen Organization and supported by King Salman for Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, welcomed a delegation from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, accompanied by several representatives of the camps and the Red Cross. The center is one of the most important in the region, providing medical assistance and health supplies, improving the health conditions of the surrounding camp residents, and offering necessary treatment and care to patients.

During their visit, the Ministry of Health delegation observed a high prevalence of infectious and contagious diseases among the camp residents, such as scabies, chickenpox, hepatitis, and cases of diarrhea and vomiting that could potentially be cholera. These diseases are attributed to the pollution caused by the cessation of septic tank emptying operations and the leakage of wastewater inside and around the tents.

The delegation provided several recommendations and proposals to improve the situation, including ensuring minimum adequate housing, providing clean drinking water and water for sanitation, guaranteeing regular septic tank emptying, and increasing primary healthcare services in the camps, along with providing the necessary medications, especially for treating dermatological, respiratory, infectious, and contagious diseases.

The Ministry of Health commended the primary healthcare center in Arsal for its effective role in providing medical services to the surrounding camp residents. The Ministry expressed its appreciation for the continuous efforts made by the center to improve health conditions and address the challenges arising from the difficult circumstances faced by the residents.

The Ministry also highlighted the activities of Alameen Organization and its medical and administrative staff at the center. They conducted repeated field visits to the camps, provided primary healthcare, and organized awareness campaigns to prevent infectious and contagious diseases. Thanks to their dedication, the center has been able to deliver essential medical support and improve the quality of life in the region.
