The Ukrainian girl Matilda…a story of pain and hope

During World Refugee Week, we draw inspiration from the story of Matilda, a young Ukrainian girl who lost both her legs due to the war—becoming a living symbol of hope and resilience.

After the war shattered her childhood, Matilda found support only through compassionate hearts that believed in her right to live. This is where the International Association “Al-Ameen” stepped in, providing comprehensive support for refugees. With generous funding and backing from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, the association ensured Matilda received prosthetic limbs and specialized rehabilitation in Poland.

Under the care of a dedicated medical team, Matilda underwent an intensive rehabilitation program to learn how to walk again and regain her self-confidence. Today, she smiles—sending the world a message of hope and defiance, proving that humanity can triumph over pain.

Matilda’s story is not just a personal journey—it stands as a symbol of the International Association “Al-Ameen”’s commitment to delivering specialized care to war-affected refugees and empowering them to build a better future.
